Anti-Snoring Devices & Snoring Surgery Market Overview

Anti-Snoring Devices & Snoring Surgery Market size was estimated at $1.2 billion in 2020, projected to grow at a CAGR of 7.8% during the forecast period 2021-2026. Vibrating tissue inside the airways of the nose and throat causes loud sounds and vibrations in the respiratory tract while sleeping, is known as snoring. It is caused by turbulent flow of air through narrowed airways. It is affected by sleeping position, blocked nasal airways, bulky throat tissue, poor muscle tone in throat and tongue, long soft palate and uvula, sleep deprivation, and by the use of drugs and alcohol. It is sometimes said to be the underlying medical problem. Loud snoring raises the risk of carotid atherosclerosis. It narrows the carotid arteries (that supplies blood to brain) caused by fatty plaque deposits and excessive plaque in carotid arteries cause stroke. The more and louder the human snores, the greater the long term chance of stroke. Snoring and sleep apnea are associated with health conditions like elevated blood pressure and coronary artery diseases. Both these conditions increases the risk of heart attack. This can be treated with CPAP device (continuous positive airway pressure). Long-term snoring increases the risk of Arrthymia, an irregular heart rhythm. People with long-term snoring are much prone to atrial fibrillation (AFib). It is a type of Arrthymia where the upper and lower chambers of heart don’t beat in a proper rhythm. Usage of CPAP device lowers the risk of AFib. In surgical procedures Laser-assisted uvulopalatoplasty (LAUP) is considered as most popular surgical procedure to eliminate snoring and is reported to be the most efficient procedure for snoring with 70%-85% clinical success rates.
Multiple sleep disorders are organised by American Sleep Disorders Association in the International Classification of Sleep Disorders and it is predicted that 57% of men and 40% of women in US are affected by snoring. Moreover, 27% of children are prone to snoring. Around 18.2% of females and 81.8% males have habitual snoring. According to it the primary disorders that require surgery are snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The treatments for snoring are both surgical and non-surgical. Anti-snoring devices that falls under non-surgical treatments for snoring is poised to be the fastest-growing segment when compared to surgical procedures owing to its low cost and less invasive nature of the devices.
