What is Cupferron?
Cupferron is the ammonium salt of N-nitroso-N-phenyl hydroxylamine. It is in the form of a brown crystalline solid or crystals which are Light yellow or cream in color with a sweet odor. It is soluble in water, benzene, alcohol, and ether. Its Melting point is 163-164℃. Cupferron is made from a NO+ source and phenylhydroxylamine. 

Applications of Cupferron:
Cupferron is mainly used as an analytical reagent to separate vanadium, copper, and iron from other metals. It is used for the quantitative analysis of various metal elements like aluminum, zinc, copper, iron, niobium, tin, thorium, titanium, vanadium, gallium, mercury, manganese, zirconium and others. Owing to its unique polymerization inhibition characteristics, it can be used as an alternative of widely used phenol polymerization inhibitor. Cupferron is also used in the colorimetric determination of the weight of different elements like thorium, aluminum, bismuth, copper, manganese, niobium, gallium, tantalum, titanium, iron, mercury, zinc, vanadium, tin and others. It is also used as a masking agent for measuring rare earth metals.
